Yoda was a dwarf mouse at the University of Michigan and lived to be 4 years and 12 days old. He died on 22 April 2004. Converted into human years, he lived to be 136 years old.

A caged mouse has an average life expectancy of 2 years.

 

Yoda lived together with his cage mate Princess Leia. Unlike many laboratory mice, which grow extremely old, Yoda was not fed a low-calorie diet. He owed his old age and dwarfism to a mutated gene Pit1, which seems to slow down the ageing process and causes mice 40% to develop Krabs later than those with the normal gene.
