Dogs and cats should not be washed with regular shampoo for humans, as the substances used in the products can irritate pets' skin. Instead of buying special dog shampoo from pet shops, you can make your own pet-friendly shampoo with a simple recipe and save money.

 

Ingredients for homemade dog shampoo

250ml water
250ml apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons of organic washing-up liquid
100ml glycerine

Mix all the ingredients together and store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Please ensure that the container is labelled and out of the reach of children. Shake well before use. For a more concentrated shampoo, simply use less water.

Rinse the dog or cat as usual with lukewarm water. Apply the desired amount of shampoo to a sponge and rub the animal well with it. Then rinse thoroughly. Vinegar and washing-up liquid not only clean the animal of dirt, but also kill mites and fleas.
