The horse's normal temperature is between 37 and 38.3 degrees Celsius, whereby the temperature is slightly lower in the morning than in the evening.

 

The best way to measure a horse's temperature is to insert the thermometer into the anus.

 

Take the clinical thermometer and attach a string to it, tying a clothes peg to the end. You should always have a string on it so that the thermometer does not disappear into the bowel.

To make it easier to insert the thermometer, make it slippery with a little saliva or Vaseline.

Stand to the side of the horse's hind legs and lift the tail vertically upwards.

Now you can insert the clinical thermometer fully into the anus.

The clothes peg is clamped to the anus rosette so that the horse cannot force the clinical thermometer out.

Wait until the thermometer beeps and take it out.
