Even though we love our furry roommate more than anything, there are some habits that cats can drive us crazy with. These are the 5 most common problems with your cat and what you can do about them:
Bad habit no. 1: The cat gnaws its paws and tail incessantly.
Drizzle a few drops of clove oil on the paws and the tip of the tail. The vile taste will quickly get the cat out of the habit of chewing on its own extremities and is completely non-toxic.
Bad habit no. 2: The cat digs up potted plants and garden flowers.
Spread the peels of citrus fruits (orange, grapefruit, lemon) in the potting soil next to the root. Cats detest the acrid smell of citrus fruits and will stay away from the plants.
Bad habit no. 3: The cat does not use its litter tray.
The cat usually chooses certain corners in the flat where it does its business. Dip cotton wool in lemon juice and put it in a tea strainer, which you can hang up in the respective places in the flat. The litter box should always be freshly cleaned and easily accessible for the cat.
Bad habit no. 4: The cat or tomcat marks its territory in the flat.
After the cat has already urinated on a spot, you can wipe the urine away with a damp cloth on which you put some ammonia. The sharp smell of the ammonia will kill the smell of the cat's urine and prevent the cat from returning to that spot to mark.
Bad habit no. 5: The cat jumps on the furniture it is not supposed to jump on.
Put a few strips of double-sided adhesive tape on the surfaces that are taboo for the cat. Cats hate the feeling of glue on their paws and will quickly learn not to jump there. The tape can be removed afterwards with nail polish remover.
