While it is relatively easy to provide exercise for dogs, you need a little more imagination with cats. A cat cannot be taken for a walk. While dogs eat what you put in front of them, whether they have enough or not, a cat only eats too much when it is bored.
How to get your cat running:
Set up a cat playground in the flat, consisting of scratching posts, high sleeping places, etc.
Serve food on a sideboard or shelf where the cat has to jump up to reach it.
Cat toy. Take the time to play with your cat to get him excited. Get a toy mouse or a ball with a feather or bell and attach a string to it. This way you can move the toy with the string and let the cat run after it. To keep them interested, you need to let them catch their prey from time to time. It is particularly good to move the toy up and down a flight of stairs.
You can set up an obstacle course for the cat using cardboard boxes, bags and plastic containers. It's best to let the cat find its way over the obstacles and give it food as a reward at the end.
Put your cat in a box and close the lid so that she can open it herself. The game for her is to free herself from the box.
Plastic jam jar lids make good pucks. You can kick them back and forth on the kitchen floor and play with the cat.
The important thing is that you both have fun. The cat should have fun so that it can play on its own from time to time.
