I hate my job

work

It has now become the norm in our society for people to complain about their work. At the end of a working day, they pour their hearts out to friends and family. That is quite normal. That's the way it's supposed to be. C'est la vie. There is simply no other way. That's why it's called work, after all, they tell themselves.

What happened to our childhood dreams where we wanted to turn what we enjoyed into a career? We just started a job at some point and stuck to it, even if we can't stand the work.

Sunday evening is spoiled because we already think of Monday with dread. Then we literally count the seconds until closing time.

Let's take a look at how this could have happened. Then let's see what we can change.

How do I build up passive income?

Many people want an income that automatically comes into their account without them having to do anything. However, most people take the wrong path at the beginning to achieve passive income.

For example, they follow adverts that promise up to €1000 a month on the side for having adverts stuck on their car. This is often just a scam. The telephone number given is a costly 0190 number, or you have to join an association and pay a fee. However, the adverts never actually appear on the car.

Financial experts encourage society to create multiple sources of passive income. As soon as the total amount exceeds the monthly expenses, you would be on the right track.

That sounds good in theory. Until you try to build up passive income and realise that it's not that easy.

Why does it often not work and what can I do to really build up passive income?

Dare - learning self-confidence

As intelligent beings, we have the ability to think, to create, to ponder. We do not simply function automatically.

But unfortunately, that's exactly the problem for many people. There are people who make complete fools of themselves and don't even realise it because they are among the less well-off among us. The smarter we are, the more we think too carefully about our actions and how we are seen by other people.

Some people have brilliant ideas and big plans, but their thinking gets in the way of them realising their plans. They are afraid of failing, they don't trust their own decisions, they don't have enough self-confidence.

It is important that these people learn how to trust themselves. This article is about strengthening this self-confidence and showing them a way to use their thinking for themselves and not against them.

Couscous

How do you actually cook couscous?

How to cook couscous.

Couscous is a tiny grain ball made from semolina wheat. The semolina is sprinkled with water and formed into small balls with the hands, dusted with flour to separate the grains. Then the grains are sieved so that the grains that are too small fall through the sieve and can be dusted and shaped again. This process is repeated until the semolina is completely formed into small couscous grains.

Originally, the dish 'couscous' comes from the Berbers, but it is becoming increasingly popular all over the world.

The name comes from the Magrehbi Arabic word kuskusu or ksaksu, which is a derivative form for "well formed, rounded".

One of the first written records comes from a 13th century Hispano-Muslim cookbook. The title of the book is "Kitāb al-tabǐkh fǐ al-Maghrib wa'l-Andalus" (the Maghreb and Al Andalus cookbook) and includes a couscous recipe that was "known throughout the world".

In Arab countries like Algeria, Morocco, Libya and Tunisia, it is very common 'home cooking'. You can find snack shops with a number of tajine dishes in the streets of Marakesh, for example.

A couscous dish is usually served with a meat or vegetable stew. It can be eaten cold or warm. In Arab countries, couscous is traditionally served in a tajine even today.

The traditional way of cooking or steaming couscous is very time-consuming, but in our fast-moving times there is a type of couscous on the market that can be cooked in just a few minutes.

That is one reason why couscous is also quite popular here in Europe.

But the question you often ask yourself as a non-Arab is: how do I cook couscous in the first place?

Here are some suggestions as an alternative to the traditional way.

The importance of practising and how to practise properly.

The power of practising

Practice makes perfect

Practice makes perfect - we've all heard that before, of course. But why is it so important to practise a lot in order to become perfect and what strength practising gives us is something that most people don't realise.

All good actors are only who they are because they have practised incessantly.

There are few people who master certain things straight away. As a rule, all those who have made it in one area are only where they are because they have practised over and over again.

But how do you actually practise properly?

The art of meeting new people

"It's so difficult to meet new people."

You have probably heard this remark many times, perhaps even uttered it yourself.

What it actually means is, "I can't find a partner who suits me."

If you focus only on finding a partner, it is really difficult to meet someone. If you want to approach someone you like (in a partnership sense), the fear of a no literally ties your throat. But first you have to find someone you would want to approach in the first place. Therefore, it is important to increase our entire circle of acquaintances.

During the school years, most people find it easy to make new friends and the first boyfriend/girlfriend is usually someone they know from school. But when they finish school, their social environment changes drastically. They work from 9am to 5pm, then go home, watch TV and maybe go out with the same friends once a week. A routine creeps in that repeats itself week after week, month after month. The inhibition threshold becomes greater and greater and at some point they no longer dare to break out of this cycle. Because they feel safe in the routine.

But if you don't break out of the routine and consciously look for new acquaintances, you become lonely and socially alienated. How do you escape this routine? How can you learn to approach strangers?

Get rich quickly and effortlessly - what's wrong with that?

We would all like to get rich very quickly and not have to do anything for it. This desire opens the door to swindlers who exploit our natural weakness to make money themselves.

All over the world, people are constantly being presented with 'get rich quick' programmes. Sooner or later, everyone wants to believe in them. They actually know very well that there is something wrong with it, yet they fall for it again and again and create a market for such programmes.

Maybe you've fallen for it yourself, or maybe you just want to find out more before you make a mistake.

Expectation anxiety - The fear of the unknown

Fear of the new and unknown is probably the most common type of fear. There is simply too much unknown out there. It spreads around us like a thick fog. What we can't see in the fog scares us. It is an understandable but not necessarily helpful kind of fear. On the contrary, it usually hinders us and restricts us. It prevents us from doing what we want to do, from living the life we want to live.

But you can do something about this fear. The first step has already been taken: you are dealing with your fear.

As a second step, you should try to understand them a little better.

Is being shy wrong? The truth about introverts

Being shy is not a character flaw, it is part of the personality. There are two types of people: extroverts and introverts. While extroverts are outgoing and like to be the centre of attention, introverts are more introverted and love being alone.

They are two different types of characteristics, both of which have their raison d'être. Neither is better or worse than the other. Nevertheless, the qualities and characteristics of introverts are often seen in a negative light in our society, so most people think being an introvert is 'wrong'.

In reality, however, they are simply misunderstandings. The two species are about as different as dogs and cats. Both have their own language, but they cannot communicate with each other or misinterpret each other's language.

Here are five points to help understanding between extroverts and introverts.

Stop comparing yourself with others

Stop comparing yourself with others

Stop comparing yourself with others

Comparing ourselves with other fellow human beings is one of our easiest exercises. We simply can't help it. You need this comparison to find your place in the 'hierarchy' of society.

Mostly it's about money, according to the motto: you are what you have. Most people want to be at the highest possible level, or at least want others to think they are.

So the question remains: How can one stop comparing oneself with others, when we live in this hierarchical society and the majority lives according to these rules?
