Actually, everyone knows it. You have to check your car's tyre pressure regularly. However, we are often too comfortable to do so and overlook the importance of air pressure. <\/p>\n

How often should you really check your tyre pressure and why is it so important?

For economical driving, the correct tyre pressure is very important. The car's tyres lose air over time, which increases friction on the road and thus fuel consumption. <\/p>\n

If tyre pressure is 25 percent too low, friction increases by 10 percent and fuel consumption by 2 percent. Too low tyre pressure also has a bad effect on the handling of the vehicle and the braking behaviour. <\/p>\n

To make sure that the tyre pressure is always correct and thus the fuel consumption is economical, one should check the air pressure at least once a month. The air pressure must be measured on cold tyres, i.e. you should have driven less than three kilometres. Otherwise, you should wait about 10 minutes until the tyres have cooled down enough. <\/p>\n

Generally, a distinction is made between a loaded and an unloaded car. How high the tyre pressure should be for the respective car in the respective situation can be found in the vehicle manual or marked on the front door. <\/p>\n
