Some people, however, experience a stronger and more frequent level and are constantly at this heightened level.

If you are one of those who suffer from anxiety, you will certainly want to reduce it so that it doesn't continue to torment you and drive you crazy.

The only question is, how do you stop the constant stream of anxious thoughts and feelings?

The answer is: don't resist the fear and don't try to suppress it. Most people make the mistake of trying to banish fear and want to live fear-free. But fear thrives on resistance and attention. The more you resist fear, the more anxious you will feel.

Instead, you need to find a way to accept the fear and remain calm within your anxious feelings. Observe your anxiety from a distance, as if it were none of your business.

Practise confronting your fear and accepting the feelings that arise, but don't run away until the fear subsides on its own. In the meantime, you should do a few breathing and relaxation exercises, as it is not possible for the body to be anxious and tense at the same time if the muscles are completely relaxed. Tense muscles increase the feeling of anxiety.

If you feel anxiety, it is better to wait and do nothing than to try to fight it. Recognise your anxiety as a feeling and just keep going until your body calms down. It's perfectly okay to feel anxious and have anxious thoughts. You can learn to deal with it.

As soon as the anxiety sets in, it is important to consciously relax your body and muscles and breathe deeply, exhaling longer than you inhale. This reduces the physical symptoms of stress and helps you to carry on as normal.

In most cases, you can do little to influence the outcome of the situation you fear, with or without fear. Let what happens happen and deal with the situation afterwards. If you learn to become one with your fear and keep smiling, you will no longer feel threatened by it.

Everyone suffers from fear, anxiety or anxiety from time to time.
