When I put my bananas in the fridge in summer to make them last longer, I always hear that this is completely wrong, because bananas are supposed to turn black and blotchy faster in the fridge than at room temperature. So I just tried it out and compared. So is it true that bananas rot faster in the fridge?<\/p>\n

I bought a bunch of bananas and divided them into three groups at home. I put the first group in the fruit bowl at an average room temperature of 26 to 28 degrees and left them there for a week.<\/p>\n

I first put the second group in the fruit bowl and then after three days I put them in the fridge for the rest of the week.<\/p>\n

I put the third group of bananas in the fridge immediately after buying them (in the vegetable compartment) and left them there for a week.<\/p>\n

In the photos you can see that group 1, i.e. the bananas that have been stored at room temperature for a whole week, has become quite blotchy.<\/p>\n

The bananas in group 2, which were stored at room temperature for half a week and the rest in the refrigerator, are significantly less stained.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Group 3, the bananas that have been stored all week at 8 degrees in the fridge in the vegetable compartment, still look very nice and yellow and appetising.<\/p>\n

Conclusion: I will therefore continue to store my bananas in the fridge in summer so that they keep longer!<\/p>\n
