To ensure that the brushes are thoroughly cleaned of all bacteria, you need to clean them properly but gently.

Ideally, you should clean your make-up brushes once a week if you use them every day. Take your brushes and hold them one after the other under running lukewarm water. Keep the brush tilted downwards so that water does not get into the metal binding and dissolve the glue there.

Now add a drop of mild shampoo to the damp brushes. Make the brush hairs foam by twirling the brush in the palm of your hand. This allows the shampoo to reach the inner brush hairs. You can also massage the shampoo in with your thumb and forefinger.

Now rinse the shampoo thoroughly under running water until there are no more soap residues.

When all your brushes are clean, dry them gently with a clean towel, but in such a way that the brush hairs are not bent. Now let the brushes dry completely on the towel before putting them back in the make-up box. It takes about six to eight hours for the brushes to dry. It is better if they are left to air dry so that they do not lose their shape.

If you use synthetic make-up brushes, you should apply some hair conditioner to the hair after rinsing and then wash it out. Synthetic brush hair tends to get a little stiff over time.

You should not soak make-up brushes in water because they will quickly fall apart. For quick cleaning in between, there are moisturising sprays in spray bottles especially for make-up brushes. These sprays are antibacterial and remove make-up residues from the brush hairs. Spray some on the brush and run the brush on a clover text towel. Those who have problems with pimples and acne should, in addition to weekly washing out, clean the brushes with spray every day after applying make-up so that bacteria do not settle in the inflamed pores and aggravate the acne.

Brushes for applying blush, powder or eye shadow should be cleaned from time to time, because the make-up sticks to the brush hairs and lots of bacteria accumulate there.
