They are part of Printen, gingerbread and dominoes.

Unfortunately, competition from sweet treats often takes away some of their popularity, meaning that they are often the very last thing left on the Christmas plate. Nevertheless, when you eat almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts and Brazil nuts, you realise time and again that they are really delicious.

Other types of nuts, such as peanuts, cashew nuts or pistachios, are more popular in connection with a nice evening in front of the telly, but certainly at any time of year. Unfortunately, these products are often so heavily salted that eating them in large quantities is not particularly advisable.

Nuts are very high in fat, between 50 and 65 per cent of their ingredients are fats. However, these are unsaturated in nature and therefore not harmful to health. On the contrary, many nuts contain very valuable components, such as linoleic acid and omega-3 fatty acids.

They also contain B vitamins, vitamin E, fibre, minerals such as magnesium, zinc and iron, up to 20 percent vegetable protein and satiating carbohydrates.

The nervous system is stimulated, which also has a positive effect on memory and effectively prevents cardiovascular diseases.

Despite the considerable calories - they contain 600-700 calories per 100g - due to their high fat content, they should be praised for their positive properties. The high satiety value means you automatically eat less, so the calorie content can be put into perspective.

The only real disadvantage of nuts is their risk of triggering allergies, which are unfortunately becoming increasingly common. However, it is not the nuts themselves that are to blame, but our changed living conditions in our environment, to which the body can react sensitively. Nevertheless, you should not shy away from eating nuts if there is no known risk of allergies.

Eigentlich essen die meisten Menschen Nüsse besonders zur Weihnachtszeit. Sie gehören zu Printen, Lebkuchen und Dominosteinen hinzu.
