You need:<\/p>\n
1 packet of wallpaper paste
Bucket
Stirring spoon
Tracing paper in many colours
A piece of wire
A balloon
A large paintbrush
Rubber gloves<\/p>\n
If you want to make a lantern, you will also need a stick to hang it on later. These are available with a small battery-operated light at the end of a string, which you can buy in stationery or craft shops, especially just before St Martin's Day, i.e. at the end of October or beginning of November. Of course, you can also use a simple stick with a string attached to the end from which the lantern dangles.<\/p>\n
If it is to be a children's room lamp, you should think about where it is to be used later, because you can either hang it upside down on the ceiling or replace the shade of an old bedside lamp with it.<\/p>\n
Craft instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n First, mix the wallpaper paste according to the instructions on the pack; it will serve as the adhesive for our nursery lamp.<\/p>\n Now inflate the balloon to its full size and tie it in a knot.<\/p>\n Tear or cut the tracing paper into several pieces, the shape is not important. All the pieces are now gradually brushed with paste. You can also use a shallow bowl to place the snippets in and pour a little paste over them, but there shouldn't be too many at once so that you can fish them out more easily later.<\/p>\n The snippets are now gradually pasted onto the entire surface of our balloon without leaving any gaps. I only leave a round area of approx. 10cm in diameter at the top edge where the knot was made. You should stick about 2-3 layers of snippets on top of each other so that the nursery lamp or lantern doesn't become too dented later.<\/p>\n Once you have glued all the pieces together, you can hang the nursery lamp up to dry. Depending on the paste, it may need to dry for around 24 hours.<\/p>\n The balloon then needs to be removed from the inside by simply popping it and pulling it out. It will be easy to remove from the wallpaper paste as it does not stick to this material.<\/p>\n Now you can cut the children's room lamp into the desired shape. For the ceiling lamp, it is best to use only the lower part, which can be attached to the ceiling with some wire. If you want a new shade for a small bedside lamp, you can cut off a little less, depending on the size of the metal housing of the old matching lampshade, which must of course be round and on whose old frame you can place the self-made lamp.
