Then they want to play with their human at night, who is otherwise not there. To satisfy the urge for variety, you should give her more time in the evening before bedtime and play with her extensively. When the cat is alone, you should give it something to do. For example, a nice place by the window where she can look out, cat toys and climbing trees.<\/p>\n

If the nocturnal disturbance is a new and unusual behaviour and the cat shows symptoms such as loss of appetite, apathy, meowing or indigestion, or if it is already an older cat, you should take it to the vet to be on the safe side. Pain can make the cat restless at night and it will seek help from its humans. Older cats may suffer from anxiety at night and need the closeness of their humans. The vet can advise you on how to help your cat.<\/p>\n

In winter, there is hardly anything nicer for a cat than to snuggle under a warm blanket next to its master or mistress at night. If it is difficult to crawl under the blanket, your mistress will have to be woken up. Either you have to make it easier for the cat to get under the blanket, or you offer it a cosy, warm place to sleep right next to the heater.<\/p>\n

If nocturnal feeding, a warm place to sleep or extensive playing doesn't help and your cat regularly wakes you up at night, she may have made a habit of trying to get your attention at night. After all, she's awake, so she sees no reason why you can't pet her. Although it's not easy and requires a lot of patience, you can break her of this annoying habit by not responding to her attempts at all. Turn away from her and pull the covers over your head if necessary. Do not respond to her in any way. The cat will keep trying for a while, but will eventually give up and find another entertainment. Never give in to her in the following nights. If you give her the slightest sign of attention, you have only shown her that persistence will get her further. If she does not get a satisfactory result for her attempts even after several nights, she will eventually stop trying to bother you.<\/p>\n
