Then count them again to make sure you have counted them correctly. First count a small paragraph in the book, if it is easier, you can look for larger passages in the text. Counting is done in your head and without following the words with your finger.

Exercise 2
Count backwards in your head from 100 to 1.

Exercise 3
Count backwards in your head from 100 to 1, but only every third number (100, 97, 94 etc.)

Exercise 4
Choose a simple word and repeat it in your head for five minutes. Later you can increase this to ten minutes when you have achieved uninterrupted concentration.

Exercise 5
Take a piece of fruit in your hand and study it carefully from all sides, focussing all your attention on it. The aim is to concentrate on it without letting your mind wander. Just concentrate on the fruit and take in its shape, colour, smell and feel.

Exercise 6
As in exercise 5, but this time without holding the fruit in your hand, you imagine a fruit and study it in your mind. Close your eyes and try to visualise as clear a picture as possible of the fruit you were looking at. As soon as the image becomes unclear, start again.

Exercise 7
Take a spoon or any other object in your hand and look at it carefully from all sides without thinking of words that are associated with this object. Look only at the shape and colour of the object without mental reservation.

After successfully mastering exercises 1 to 7, try this one:

Exercise 8
Draw a geometric shape on a piece of paper, colour it in and concentrate exclusively on this shape. Don't let your mind wander and don't let yourself be distracted by external influences.

Exercise 9
As in exercise 8, but this time imagine a geometric figure with your eyes closed.

Exercise 10
As in exercise 9, but with your eyes open.

If you are good at all of the above exercises, take on this challenge:

Exercise 11
Try to remain completely without thoughts for five minutes. Once you have mastered the previous exercises, you will have learnt to focus your thoughts on just one thing, the ultimate challenge is to control your thoughts so that you can suppress them completely.

Concentration exercises for memory training, how to practice correctly

What is the aim of concentration exercises?

Übung 1Nimm ein Buch und zähle die Wörter in einem Absatz.
