One automatically and understandably reacts to tragedies that affect oneself with anger and thoughts of revenge. But unfortunately, it is precisely these thoughts of revenge and the hatred associated with them that add fuel to the fire and escalate an already volatile situation.

Past reactions of the Western world to assassinations and terrorist attacks have by no means led to their elimination, but have only drastically exacerbated the hatred of opponents and the fear of the population.<\/p>\n
The Boston Marathon bombings have naturally awakened a desire in many people to retaliate against those responsible. Unfortunately, it doesn't stop there. Twitter comments and internet posts have shown a clear tendency towards violence among the American population. The opinion has been publicly proclaimed that in response to the terrorist attack, the homeland of the terrorists responsible should be bombed out.
Now let's completely ignore the fact that many Americans have confused the country of origin of the suspects (Chechnya) with the completely uninvolved Czech Republic. The expression of such an act of revenge unfortunately clearly shows that those who fuel such thoughts of revenge are no better than the terrorists themselves, because bombing a country or even just a city would inevitably cause many people to suffer who have done nothing wrong at all. And what would such an action cause? The world's hatred of the Americans, just like the war in Iraq.<\/p>\n

To repay like with like is not a solution, but leads to escalation. What would like-minded citizens of Prague do if their city was bombed by the USA in revenge? They would want to avenge the innocent victims.
It is time to stop this. Whatever the reaction to such an act of terrorism may be, we must not react with violence and hatred.<\/p>\n
