After a minor accident, should a baby go to sleep immediately after a fall? Many parents believe that a baby or toddler must be kept awake after a fall on the head to avoid the risk of coma. Whether to keep the baby awake depends mainly on the severity of the fall. In fact, it is restful for many babies if they can take a nap after a traumatic experience such as a fall.

If it is a fall from a greater height or a serious collision, parents should definitely talk to a doctor and clarify the exact background and symptoms. Serious symptoms after a fall are unconsciousness, excessive crying, vomiting, lethargy, breathing difficulties and change in facial colour. If the child shows such symptoms and does not react or hardly reacts to the parents' voice, he or she may have suffered a concussion and needs to see a doctor.
