Almost all organic waste such as potato peelings, eggshells and vegetable scraps can be composted. To compost, place a compost bin in the garden in a place where people are less likely to be present and will not disturb any neighbours, as odours will develop and increased insects will be attracted. a compost bin must have openings on the sides so that gases and rainwater can escape. It does not matter whether the compost is placed in a shady or sunny spot.<\/p>\n

Citrus fruits can also be added to the compost. Since the peels of citrus fruits take longer to decompose, it is especially recommended here to shred them. The citric acid contained in citrus fruits is not harmful to worms and beetles. The pesticides contained in the peel are also not harmful to compost, because the chemical oils decompose very quickly. Every few weeks you should prick the compost with an aerator. Oxygen is important for composting. Bugs that accumulate in the compost also speed up composting. There are usually a lot of woodlice.<\/p>\n
