This is how pregnancy affects the female brain:

Brain shrinkage. The brain actually becomes up to six per cent smaller during pregnancy. This may also explain the slight mental fuzziness that many pregnant women complain about. However, brain shrinkage is only temporary. The brain returns to its original size by the 24th week after delivery.

Male danger. Women feel particularly vulnerable during pregnancy, which is why they subconsciously become more wary of men. Men represent a potential danger and are instinctively avoided. This is no coincidence, as murder is the most common cause of death among pregnant women and young mothers in the USA.

Multitasking. The ability to complete several tasks at the same time increases during pregnancy. Pregnancy hormones stimulate the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain that makes human multitasking possible.

Increased feelings. Oxytocin, the hormone that is released during labour and breastfeeding, makes women calmer, but interestingly also increases aggression towards potential dangers.

Increased intelligence. Women with particularly strong positive feelings towards their baby become more intelligent. The emotions trigger structural changes in the brain that increase its capacity to process information.

Unfamiliar faces cause tension. The first three months of pregnancy are less suitable for travelling abroad to foreign cultures, as the unfamiliar-looking faces trigger inner tension. This can be explained by the fact that the foetus is more susceptible and unfamiliar people are associated with unfamiliar pathogens against which the baby is unprotected. This is not usually directed against foreign fellow citizens, but manifests itself above all when the woman herself is abroad, i.e. in the zone of foreign pathogens.

Not only the body of an expectant mother is affected by pregnancy, the brain also undergoes some adjustments.
