But you can also make soap yourself relatively easily.<\/p>\n<p>For this purpose, you can buy ready-made packs on the internet that contain all the building blocks.  But you can also go one step further and obtain all the ingredients yourself, because soap primarily consists of only three different components that are freely available:<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n<br \/>- Fats and oils, which can be solid or liquid.<br \/>- A liquid that can be more or less noble, i.e. either just distilled water, or more precious floral water.<br \/>- Caustic soda, also called caustic soda or sodium hydroxide, which bears the chemical symbol NaOH.<\/p>\n<p>Since the production of soap, or the so-called boiling of soap, is a chemical process, caution is required.  You should wear protective clothing, i.e. goggles, gloves and a smock that covers your arms, because the lye that is produced during boiling is indeed corrosive.  The NaOH powder also releases vapours against which it is better to wear respiratory protection.  However, if something goes wrong, it can be neutralised with vinegar to avoid bad stains.<\/p>\n<p>Recipes for soap abound, here we would just like to present a basic recipe that can be varied by adding different fragrance oils, food colours, herbs, or other non-soluble substances, e.g. sea sand or coconut flakes for an exfoliating effect.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Basic recipe<\/strong>:<br \/>200 g coconut oil<br \/>300 g rapeseed oil<br \/>400 g margarine<br \/>270 g distilled water<br \/>122 g NaOH<br \/>20 - 30 ml essential oil as desired<br \/>Other tools that should not be used later for food preparation are the following:<\/p>\n<p>A large, high pot, with a capacity of approx. 3l, preferably made of stainless steel for boiling the lye.<br \/>A small 1l saucepan for mixing the ingredients, as above.<br \/>Glass container for weighing the ingredients<br \/>Wooden spoon<br \/>Kitchen scales<br \/>Roast thermometer<br \/>Mould or ramekins for the finished soap mixture<\/p>\n<p>Now it's time for the canning, or boiling down of the soap. \u00a0<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin: 25px; float: left;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"pub-0505349671478188\";\n\/* Neuropool square 250x250 *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"0043167546\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 250;\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"\nsrc=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p>First, weigh all the ingredients and get them ready.  Then put on the fats and oils, which should be kept at a constant temperature of about 50-60\u00baC, dipping the roast thermometer in to check.<\/p>\n<p>Now dissolve the caustic soda in the heated distilled water and carefully add it to the fats in the pot.  Stir with the wooden spoon for a good half hour until the mixture has solidified.  All other ingredients should only be added towards the end of the stirring process.<\/p>\n<p>When the mixture is firm enough to trace with a spoon, it is time to transfer it to the prepared moulds, or small ramekins.<\/p>\n<p>The soap must now be left to cool for at least 24 hours, preferably covered with cloths, so that the cooling process can take place slowly, this is important so that the PH content of the soap can normalise.<\/p>\n<p>Then the soap can be placed in a well-ventilated place to dry, where it must spend a month, preferably even about 6 weeks.
