Everyone wants a lush green lawn in their garden. A beautiful, healthy lawn is not always as easy to achieve as it seems, because even simple grass needs nutrients.<\/p>\n

If the grass is thin and weak or has yellowish patches, you can have the soil tested. In the warmer months of spring and summer, the lawn needs fertiliser that is high in nitrogen and low in phosphates. Ideally, this fertiliser should be applied before the grass starts to grow in spring.<\/p>\n

In autumn, use a fertiliser that contains a lot of phosphate and less nitrogen. This fertiliser should only be applied when the growth of the grass slows down towards the cold season.<\/p>\n

There is a special mix based on fine sand, ferrous sulphate and ammonium that can be sprinkled on the grass to reduce the growth of moss and weeds. This mixture often makes the grass look nice and lush and should be used towards the end of spring.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The sooner the lawn is treated, the faster it can recover. A lawn that needs to be reseeded can take up to three years to become resilient.<\/p>\n

Fertilisers should ideally be applied one to two days before the next rain. If no rain is forecast, the lawn must be well sprinkled.<\/p>\n

Over-fertilisation should be avoided. The grass can grow too quickly without the roots being strong enough.<\/p>\n
