These penetrate the pores of the clay and therefore cannot simply be wiped off. Although bricks are resistant, they can be damaged by vigorous scrubbing and harsh cleaning agents. Bricks can be cleaned gently using various cleaning methods.

Mix together washing-up liquid, a little table salt and a bowl of warm water. Spread the resulting solution generously over the surface of the bricks using a sponge or cloth.
The soap solution is now worked into the pores of the bricks with a scrubbing brush that is not too hard and left to dry for around 15 minutes. Depending on the outside temperature, it may take a little longer, but the detergent should be dry when it is washed off with a clean cloth and fresh warm water.

If the bricks are not clean enough with washing-up liquid, salt and water, you can try cleaning with boric acid. Boric acid is available in pharmacies. Mix two tablespoons of boric acid with one litre of warm water. Wear rubber gloves when applying the solution to the brick surface. Spread the solution well over the bricks, leave to work in and scrub with a scrubbing brush. Then wash off with clean, warm water. Ammonia can also be used instead of boric acid.

To avoid damaging the bricks, you should always clean them as gently as possible, rather clean them more often and not allow too much dirt to accumulate, which is more difficult to remove.

Da Backsteine gewöhnlich Wind und Wetter ausgesetzt sind, lagern sich Moos, Kalk und Straßenschmutz auf der rauen Oberfläche ab.
