Dirt and crumbs wear down the floor the most as they scrape across the surface when they are trodden on.
Stone floors should be swept or vacuumed more frequently and wet mopped only occasionally. Too frequent wet mopping can discolour the joints and deeper areas of the stones.

Never use vinegar or acidic cleaning agents when wet mopping. Use a special cleaning agent for stone floors or only lukewarm water. Use a good mop for mopping and squeeze the head of the mop thoroughly so that it is only damp. Then clean the stone floor dry with a microfibre cloth.

Wipe up stains caused by spilled liquids immediately so that they cannot penetrate deeper into the stone layers.
Lay out a doormat in front of the area with the stone floor so that no unnecessary dirt is carried around on the floor.

Place felt under furniture and other movable objects to avoid leaving scratch marks on the stone floor. Chairs with castors should be avoided on sinter, limestone and marble.

For heavily soiled surfaces, leave the cleaning agent to act for a few minutes and then wipe.

Stone floors are very robust, but depending on the type and surface, they should not necessarily be cleaned in the same way as a wooden or PVC floor.
