If the mother cat rejects her newborn kittens, the cat owner must try to raise the kittens himself.<\/p>\n

Usually, the owner of a pregnant cat does not need to worry about the litter because the mother cat instinctively takes good care of her kittens. In rare cases, however, individual kittens or the entire litter may be rejected by the mother. To save them from certain death, the cat owner can try to adopt them.<\/p>\n
If there happens to be another nursing mother cat in the household, it makes sense to see if she will accept some of the rejected kittens, as a mother cat is always better for the kittens than any human. However, a cat will not always accept other cats' kittens, especially if she already has a large litter herself.<\/p>\n
To raise the kittens yourself, prepare a small crate or basket lined with soft blankets. The most important thing, as with all newborns, is to keep them warm. In cold weather, place the basket close to the radiator or place an electric heating pad under the blanket. Set the heating pad to a low setting and check the temperature from time to time so that the kittens do not overheat.
If you do not have a heating pad, you can occasionally irradiate the kittens with a red light lamp.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
You can buy special cat rearing milk in pet shops. On no account use cow's milk. The rearing milk is fed to the kittens with a bottle or syringe, slightly warmed. Place the opening of the bottle or syringe in the kitten's mouth and do not squeeze out too much milk at once. The kitten should be in the same position as if it were sucking on its mother's teats, i.e. on its stomach. Never lay the kitten on its back, otherwise there is a risk of the liquid getting into the lungs and the kitten suffocating. Kittens should be fed every two hours; they will stop drinking on their own when they have had enough.<\/p>\n
Newborn kittens need help to empty their bladder. Until they are four weeks old, the mother cat stimulates the genitals and lower abdomen by licking them. As a human mother cat, you stimulate the area by gently massaging it with a warm, damp cotton ball after each feed.<\/p>\n
Solid food specifically for kittens is not given until they are about six weeks old. Cats often need a little help with the introduction of solid food. Kitten food is very liquidy, but cats sometimes need to be shown that this is their new food. Put a little food on a finger and smear it around the cat's mouth so that it licks the food and gets a taste for it.<\/p>\n
