\"Headache\"<\/p>\n

The headache spreads throughout the head and neck. The pain is throbbing, pulling, stabbing, drilling, rumbling or dull; there are over one hundred different types of headache. A distinction is made between primary and secondary headaches. Primary headaches are, for example, tension headaches, migraines or vasomotor headaches. Secondary headaches are those that are triggered by another illness, such as a cold or sinusitis.<\/p>\n

Painkillers containing the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid (ASA, Aspirin), paracetamol or ibuprofen help to relieve headaches.<\/p>\n

Cold compresses on the neck or forehead are good for acute pain.<\/p>\n

Acupressure (pressure point massage) helps against frequent, mild headaches.<\/p>\n

In most cases, a cold arm bath helps to relieve acute pain. Immerse both arms up to the centre of the upper arm in cold water for 30 seconds. Then remove and wait two minutes. Repeat the application several times.<\/p>\n

If headaches occur chronically, you should see a doctor, as there could be a serious illness behind them.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Headaches in children<\/strong><\/p>\n

If possible, avoid synthetic medication in children. Instead, apply cold compresses and let the child rest.
