These are taken one hour before travelling or at the latest when the first symptoms occur.<\/p>\n<p>On longer car journeys, stop frequently and do a few gymnastic exercises in the fresh air. Stand up and walk back and forth frequently on aeroplanes, boats or trains.<\/p>\n<p>Ginger and glucose have proven to be effective home remedies for travel sickness. While travelling, chew a piece of ginger root or let glucose sweets melt under your tongue.<\/p>\n<p>Children over the age of six can be given medication in chewing gum form, as it takes effect more quickly than tablets. Children under the age of six should take other forms of medication, such as suppositories.<\/p>\n<p>While driving, you should avoid alcohol and nicotine, rich, fatty meals, stress, caffeinated drinks and reading. If possible, look straight ahead and\/or out of the window and concentrate on a point in the distance.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prevention of travel sickness<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The right seat is where the movement of the vehicle is felt the least. In an aeroplane, this is in the area of the wings, on ships in the middle, in a car in the front seats. <br \/>Eat light but carbohydrate-rich meals before travelling. <br \/>Stomach acid-activating stimulants should be avoided. These include coffee, alcohol, carbonated drinks and energy drinks. <br \/>Plan your trip as stress-free as possible.
