Milk is also often used in cakes. But milk is even more versatile and has numerous applications in the kitchen and household.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Milk in the kitchen<\/strong><br \/>Frozen fish tastes fresher if you put it in a milk bath to thaw. <br \/>Maize cooked in milk gives the maize kernels a sweeter taste.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Milk in the household<\/strong><br \/>Cracked porcelain can often be mended with milk. Place the porcelain in a pan with milk and bring to the boil. After boiling, simmer on low heat for 45 minutes. The milk protein binds fine hairline cracks.<br \/>Hands soiled with lubricating oil and garden soil can be made clean again with a paste of milk and oatmeal.<br \/>For ink stains on clothes, you can soak the fabrics in milk overnight and then wash them in the machine as usual.<br \/>Dulled silverware shines again after a half-hour bath in sour milk.<br \/>Rubbing milk into leather shoes makes the leather soft and shiny again.<br \/>The leaves of rubber trees are made shiny by wiping them individually with milk.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Milk for body care<\/strong><br \/>Milk can be used as a substitute for shaving foam.<br \/>Milk helps against sunburn.<br \/>A paste made of milk, flour and salt soothes the itching of insect bites.<br \/>Rubbing the skin with milk three times a day makes it supple again even in winter.<br \/>A paste of milk and flour works as a make-up remover.
