All children have one or more favourite colours that they would always choose over other colours, be it for toys, clothes or even food.

One interesting aspect is the colour scheme of a child's room, as it can be used to influence the child's character.

It is well known that colours also have psychological effects, and they need to be used in a targeted way to create a harmonious picture in the children's room.

Red

Red, the signal colour, has a clearly invigorating effect and can also encourage quieter children to become more active. However, as a strong, bright red colour in the bedroom can also quickly lead to saturation, you should either only add red accents, e.g. with curtains, furniture or toys, instead of painting the entire room red. However, it is also a good idea to paint just one wall red and keep the rest in a more muted colour, especially near the bed.

Blue and violet

Blue has a calming effect on shy or anxious children, they can feel safe and soothed. Blue is of course not dependent on gender, but if a girl is fundamentally opposed to this choice of colour, you can also switch to a shade of violet, which has a similar effect. Violet is a warmer colour due to the red component, but still has a calming effect, so it is particularly good if you have very loud children.

Orange and yellow

These two colours have a similar, refreshing and invigorating effect. Even when used over a large area, they do not overload the eye, but are well suited for an overall paint job, even in combination, as they are on the light side of the colour spectrum, making even small rooms appear larger. They stand for cheerfulness and spontaneity and even make sleepyheads wake up.

Green

Green is not very common among children's favourites, yet this colour has its qualities, as green has a calming effect and can soothe very lively children. If this colour does not appeal to the child per se, you can still easily incorporate green accents, for example by conjuring up a mural with a tree motif or flower meadow that contains plenty of green tones. If you don't have a knack for painting yourself, there are also very attractive motif wallpapers on the market today that offer a large selection.

Colourful rooms definitely have an influence on your child's state of mind and therefore also on their creativity, activity and happiness. It is worth harmonising the child's choice with the aspects described above, because it is the effect that counts.
