This effect is attributed to the fatty acid gamma-linolenic acid, which is only found in pomegranates.

Pomegranate has also been proven to lower blood pressure and can alleviate cardiovascular complaints and reduce inflammation more quickly thanks to the flavonoids it contains.

Pomegranate products include juice, wine, valuable seed oil and capsules and elixirs prepared as food supplements. You can even make cosmetics from pomegranates, which are particularly useful in soaps and flavoured baths.

If you want to eat the pomegranate like a fruit, all you have to do is remove all the skin and peel, and the seeds can then be easily removed.

They also taste delicious in green salads, to which they add a fruity flavour, or as freshly squeezed juice.

Pomegranate seeds can also be used in many meat dishes, such as poultry and venison, but they must remain uncooked, otherwise they quickly lose their juice.

Due to its sweetness, however, there are many recipes for desserts, creams and cakes, e.g. made with Philadelphia.

The pomegranate was already popular in Roman times, it owes its name to the Latin word for grains and the further spread from West to Central Asia, where it was once at home, was carried out by the Romans, as they brought it to the Mediterranean region.

However, the pomegranate was also known in biblical times, as it is mentioned in the Old Testament and even has a place in Greek mythology.

Eine seltsame Frucht ist er, der Granatapfel, der mit seiner äußeren harten Schale zwar einem Apfel in gewisser Weise ähnelt, jedoch keine weiteren Merkmale mit ihm teilt.
