However, vinegar is also very useful when it comes to environmentally friendly washing in the washing machine. <br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n<br \/>Not only is vinegar a natural substance free from harmful substances, it also cleans and cares for clothes when they are washed in the washing machine. What's more, acetic acid is a natural limescale remover and therefore also protects the washing machine itself from harmful limescale deposits.<\/p>\n<p>You can soak your clothes in vinegar water before washing them in the washing machine. Just half a cup of water per wash load neutralises allergenic chemicals that were used to treat new clothes during the soaking process. On white fabrics, acetic acid will bring back the bright white colour, especially on yellowish sweat stains on shirt collars. Clothes should not be soaked in vinegar water for longer than 30 minutes, then the vinegar water should be drained before the wash cycle begins. <\/p>\n<p>Add half a cup of vinegar to the regular wash cycle to remove strong odours such as body odour and mould. The vinegar replaces about half of the conventional washing powder. Vinegar acts as a mild bleaching agent for white fabrics and softens the water. <\/p>\n<p>Vinegar is particularly effective for rinsing. 3 tablespoons on a wash load of blankets will make them fluffy again in the tumble dryer. Half a cup of vinegar in the fabric softener compartment replaces fabric softener.
