However, there are jobs where this is extremely important. A market researcher, for example, has to approach complete strangers and persuade them to take part in a market research survey. While some people are born with this talent, others have to develop and learn this skill. However, learning to approach strangers with confidence is not as difficult as many people think. In fact, it can be broken down into three steps that anyone can follow to learn how to approach strangers with confidence.

Step 1

Work on your eloquence. A meaningful and interesting dialogue between two people primarily involves listening to each other, responding to each other's words and making intelligent contributions. You don't need to be a genius to do this, as long as you don't babble on about irrelevant things. The basic rules of good conversation are: let the other person finish, listen, pause between sentences to give the other person a chance to say something, only talk when you have something to say and show interest in the other person. The other person should feel that they have been addressed on the basis of their individuality and taken seriously.

Relax and only speak when you are calm so that you don't accidentally say something inappropriate in your nervousness, which will make you even more nervous later, because it is important for you to get a good result from your conversations in order to increase your self-confidence. Start your speech practice with people you already know. When you are confident enough, you can expand your environment and speak to strangers.

Step 2

Start small. Work your way up in small steps and start by talking to people who don't seem intimidating to you. Start with small talks with shop assistants or waiters. In the beginning, you don't need to start a whole conversation, but limit yourself to smiling, saying hello and making a passing remark about the weather. Gradually it will become natural and conversations will develop.

Step 3

Be open and friendly. Approaching strangers on the street not only makes you nervous, but also the person you are talking to, because they don't know what you want from them. Approach your fellow human beings with respectful politeness and ease. Don't stop someone who doesn't want to talk to you, but concentrate on the next person. End your conversations in a friendly and informal manner as soon as you feel the other person wants to move on. Even if you find it difficult, your efforts will be rewarded in the end. Whatever the reason that motivates you to want to be able to talk to strangers, you can give yourself a pat on the back when you've done it.

Viele Menschen finden es schwierig, fremde Menschen einfach anzusprechen.
