Grout joints, especially light-coloured ones, can look very ugly after a while if they are not cleaned. Normal tile cleaning is not enough to clean the grout as well, because small particles get stuck in the grout. With thorough scrubbing, you can get the grout white again with chemical cleaners, but there is still a less time-consuming way.<\/p>\n

To clean the grout, use an oxygen bleach. Oxygen bleaches are non-toxic, do not smell very strong and do not fade the colours of the tiles. In addition, the bleach does most of the cleaning work all by itself if you let it work on the grout long enough.<\/p>\n

Apply the oxygen bleach generously to the discoloured joints and leave the solution to act for about one hour. If the grout is extremely dirty, you can leave the bleach on for up to six hours. When the grout has absorbed the bleach, you can pour more, because it is better to have a permanent layer of bleach on the grout.<\/p>\n

After soaking, the joints are lightly scrubbed with a brush. Use a mop to wipe up the dirty water and wash again with clear, clean water.<\/p>\n
