Suede is a type of leather made from calfskin and is less hardwearing than normal leather, but it is much softer and more supple. The material is very sensitive to the weather and difficult to clean when soiled. Suede is very fragile and should not be worn in the rain. Suede shoes should be waterproofed with a spray before wearing.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Any liquid that gets onto suede should be soaked up as quickly as possible with a handkerchief. Especially with new suede, which still contains a lot of oil, smaller drops will roll off first. Dab the handkerchief carefully onto the liquid to prevent the drops from being pressed further into the material. Rub dry stains carefully with a suede pen. Suede pencils and other suede care products are available in shoe shops. Dust particles and lighter-coloured stains can be brushed off the material with a soft brush. A special suede brush can also be used to roughen up flat suede by brushing the material in a circular motion.<\/p>\n<p>To remove body fat, cooking oil or grease from suede, apply a grease remover for leather goods. Spray the grease remover onto the stain, leave to work for a few minutes and brush off. Repeat the process until the stain has disappeared. Instead of a chemical grease remover, you can also dust cornflour onto grease stains, press lightly with your finger and leave to work for an hour. Then<span>Then tap off the starch flour and brush off with a brush.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Other stains can be gently dabbed off with a cloth moistened with vinegar. To avoid ruining the suede, do not rub. Allow the vinegar to air dry until the odour has evaporated.<\/p>\n<p>Scuff marks can be removed or at least reduced by holding the worn area of suede over hot steam for one to two minutes. Brush with the suede brush and repeat the process several times.
