He studied medicinal plants at the beginning of the 20th century and created a repertoire of flower essences that were helpful for various complaints.

Bach flower therapy helps especially with emotional complaints, on the psychological level, which can also lead to physical illnesses, the psychosomatic complaints.

Thus, flower therapy alleviates acute states of anxiety, panic, dejection, test anxiety or aggression.

Bach flowers work by restoring inner balance and bringing together the physical, mental and spiritual levels with energetic vibrations.

Similar to homeopathy, the self-healing powers are set in motion.

There are 38 Bach flowers, which are offered individually or can be combined, depending on the complaints for which they are to be used. They are available in finely potentised drops and are usually taken directly on the tongue or with a little water.

You can buy the drops ready-mixed, or prepare a drop bottle yourself by mixing the following ingredients:
10ml alcohol, 20ml still spring mineral water, 2 drops of each flower you wish to add, up to a maximum of 5-8 flowers.

If Bach flowers are to be used on children, vinegar can be used instead of alcohol for preservation.

Once you have started taking them, it may take a few days before you see any results. The wrong choice of flowers has no negative effects, they are simply broken down by the body "unused".

The Rescue drops

The Rescue drops were specially formulated by Dr Bach as emergency drops and are particularly useful for various emergency situations in which the mind is very upset, e.g. in the event of an accident, grief or sudden panic. Their composition is precisely tailored to these acute situations and helps adults and children alike.

They are a proven and popular remedy among more and more people and can be found in more and more medicine cabinets and travelling pharmacies. An ointment and lozenges have also been produced and are highly recommended.

Which Bach flowers help for which complaints can be found in the detailed descriptions of the individual flowers.
Information on this is available on websites, in specialised literature, but also in pharmacies and of course from alternative practitioners. More and more seminars are being offered on the subject and awareness has increased considerably in recent years.

They are usually referred to by their English or Latin name.

The 38 flowers are:

1st Agrimony (German: Odermennig, Latin: Agrimonia eupatoria)
2 Aspen (German: Aspen oder Zitterpappel, Latin: Populus tremula)
3. beech (German: Rotbuche, lat.: Fagus sylvatica)
4th Centaury (German: Tausendgüldenkraut, Latin: Centaurium umbellatum)
5th Cerato (German: Bleiwurz or hornwort, Latin: Ceratostigma willmottiana)
6. cherry plum (lat.: Prunus cerasifera)
7th Chestnut Bud (German: Bud of the horse chestnut, Latin: Aesculus hippocastanum)
8. chicory (German: Wegwarte, Latin: Cichorium intybus)
9.clematis (German: Weiße Waldrebe, Latin: Clematis vitalba)
10.crab apple (lat.: Malus pumila)
11. elm (German: Ulm, Latin: Ulmus procera)
12.gentian (German: Herbstenzian, Latin: Gentiana amarella)
13.gorse (German: Stechginster, lat.: Ulex europaeus)
14th Heather (German: Schottisches Heidekraut, lat.: Calluna vulgaris)
15th Holly (German: Stechpalme, Latin: Ilex aquifolium)
16. honeysuckle (Latin: Lonicera caprifolium)
17.hornbeam (German: Weißbuche or Hainbuche, Latin: Carpinus betulus)
18th Impatiens (German: Drüsentragendes Springkraut, Latin: Impatiens glandulifera)
19th Larch (German: Lärche, Latin: Larix decidua)
20th Mimulus (German: Gefleckte Gauklerblume, Latin: Mimulus guttatus)
21st Mustard (German: Wilder Senf, lat.: Sinapis arvensis)
22.oak (German: Eiche, lat.: Quercus robur)
23.olive (German: Olive, Latin: Olea europaea)
24.pine (Scots pine, lat.: Pinus sylvestris)
25.red chestnut (lat.: Aesculus carnea)
26.Rock Rose (German: Gelbes Sonnenröschen, Latin: Helianthemum nummularium)
27.Rock Water (water from healing springs)
28.scleranthus (German: Einjähriger Knäuel, lat.: Scleranthus annuus)
29.Star of Bethlehem (German: Doldiger Milchstern, lat.: Ornithogalum umbellatum)
30.sweet chestnut (German: Edelkastanie or edible chestnut, lat.: Castanea sativa)
31.vervain (German: Eisenkraut, Latin: Verbena officinalis)
32.vine (German: Weinrebe, Latin: Vitis vinifera)
33.walnut (German: Walnuß, lat.: Juglans regia)
34.Water Violet (German: Sumpfwasserfeder, lat.: Hottonia palustris)
35.white chestnut (German: Roßkastanie or white chestnut, lat.: Aesculus hippocastanum)
36.wild oat (German: Waldrespe, lat.: Bromus ramosus)
37.wild rose (German: Heckenrose, Latin: Rosa canina)
38.willow (German: Gelbe Weide, Latin: Salix vitellina)

Dr. Edward Bach, der Entwickler der Bach-Blütentherapie, kam nicht, wie man durch den Namen meinen möchte, aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum, sondern aus England.
