Depending on where the symptoms occur and how they manifest themselves<span>A distinction is made between the following forms of rheumatism:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Localised rheumatism, e.g. bursitis (inflammation of the bursa)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Regional rheumatism, e.g. temporomandibular joint pain<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>General rheumatism, e.g. fibromyalgia (chronic pain disorder)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Psychogenic rheumatism, i.e. muscle and joint pain is inconsistent and contradictory to the actual physiology and the patient may have psychological reasons for the symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rheumatic diseases mainly affect joints, tendons, bones, muscles and ligaments. Typical symptoms are inflammation characterised by redness, warmth, swelling and pain in the affected area.
