Some situations that can cause stress are<\/p>\n<p>- Separation from master or mistress or the carer<\/p>\n<p>- Relocation<\/p>\n<p>- Journey<\/p>\n<p>- Illness, e.g. flu or parasite infestation<\/p>\n<p>- Litter of puppies or exhaustion through breeding<\/p>\n<p>- Loss of a family member or animal partner<\/p>\n<p>- Addition of a family member or animal partner<\/p>\n<p>- Loneliness<\/p>\n<p>- Encounters with incompatible animal companions<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Symptoms of stress<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>- Loss of appetite and little interest in food<\/p>\n<p>- Slow and listless eating<\/p>\n<p>- Weight loss<\/p>\n<p>- Restless behaviour<\/p>\n<p>- Destruction of household items<\/p>\n<p>- Permanent licking of the paws until the development of a sore granuloma<\/p>\n<p>- Biting and snapping at people<\/p>\n<p>- Trembling<\/p>\n<p>- pinched tail<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Treatment of stress in animals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In serious cases, the vet should always be consulted. As every animal reacts differently to treatment, here are some suggestions for treatment. Of course, the stress-inducing factor must be eliminated if possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>- The animal needs a place of refuge where it feels safe and secure. The place must be \"his\", warm and offer sufficient space.<\/p>\n<p>- Play with the animal a lot to keep it active. Take dogs for a long walk at least twice a day.<\/p>\n<p>- give you the opportunity to race.<\/p>\n<p>- Vary walking routes.
