Also, the covers can slow down the heating process as they intercept most of the microwaves.<\/p>\n<p>A popular and effective trick is to cover the food to be heated with a coffee filter. The coffee filter is placed on top like a little hat, possibly cutting one side a little to make it fit. The filter paper allows air and microwaves to circulate and the food is heated almost as quickly as without the cover.
