There are still many people who leave their handbag with their money in the trolley when shopping in the supermarket. Then one thief comes along and asks for a particular product while the other steals the bag from the shopping trolley.<\/p>\n

How to protect yourself from a pickpocket<\/p>\n

Never leave your valuables out of sight. When shopping, always carry your handbag close to your body and never put it in the shopping trolley. When strolling through town or in large crowds, pull your handbag over your head with the handle so that it hangs in front of your body and cannot be pulled off your shoulder.<\/p>\n
Never leave your wallet in your jacket pocket when you take your eyes off your jacket.<\/p>\n
Never carry cash or a wallet in your trouser pocket, least of all in your back pocket. The victim won't even notice if they are pulled out.<\/p>\n

It is best to use a handbag that closes twice, e.g. with a zip and an additional button.<\/p>\n

Do not carry more cash with you than necessary and leave unnecessary bank or credit cards at home.<\/p>\n

When sitting down in a caf\u00e9 or restaurant, do not place your handbag on a separate chair or hang it on the back of your own chair, but leave it on your lap or around your shoulder.<\/p>\n

How to react if you are the victim of theft<\/p>\n

Report the offence to the police immediately, even if the offender is not known. It is particularly important to have the police report if your driving licence and ID card have been stolen. The driving licence office will charge less if you have a theft report for your driving licence than if you apply for a new one without it.<\/p>\n

Have all credit cards and bank cards blocked, either directly at the relevant bank or by dialling 116 116.<\/p>\n
