Here are tips for avoiding body odour and excessive sweating.

Hygiene: A daily shower is the most important step in preventing body odour. If you don't have time to shower, wash yourself with water and 4 teaspoons of baking soda. This will freshen you up quickly and the baking soda will absorb odour-causing body fluids.

Sweaty feet: Wear shoes with sweat-absorbing insoles. Foot odour is a very common problem. Wash your feet daily and dry them thoroughly afterwards.

Sweating: Wear loose-fitting clothing for sufficient air circulation around your body. Tight-fitting clothing forms a film of sweat on the skin, causing embarrassing sweat stains and unpleasant odours.

Clothing: Wear clothing made from natural fibres such as cotton. Cotton allows your skin to breathe and reduces body odour. Avoid synthetic fabrics that reduce air circulation.

Antiperspirant deodorant: Apply an antiperspirant deodorant under the arms when the skin is still slightly damp, e.g. after showering. This helps the active ingredient of the deodorant to be absorbed better.

Avoid overheating. Don't sit directly in the hot sun so that your body doesn't get too warm and stimulate sweat production.

Keep skin dry. Apply baby powder to the skin in the morning to keep it dry during the day. Baby powder does not dry out the skin, but absorbs sweat.

Yoga: Yoga is a type of stress management training and helps to keep sweating and body odour under control, as stress is one of the main causes of excessive sweating.

Underarm bacteria: Using a cotton pad, apply pure alcohol under the arms to kill odour-causing bacteria. Witch hazel or tea tree oil also have a bactericidal effect, keep the armpit dry and deodorise.

Natural odour killers: Green vegetables such as spinach, chard, parsley and kale contain a lot of chlorophyll, which has a strong deodorising effect on the body. If you eat a lot of green vegetables in the evening, the odour-stopping effect will last for the next day.

Nobody likes bad body odour and nobody wants to be around people who smell bad.
