You can combat greasy hair with shampoo, the right washing method and home remedies.

Shampoo against greasy hair

Effective shampoo for oily hair is rich in sodium lauryl sulphate and low in lanolin. You need a clarifying shampoo that removes the oily substance from the hair shaft and scalp. Often, anti-dandruff shampoos containing tar are also effective against greasy hair.

Oily hair must be washed every day if possible. The hair should be shampooed twice each time it is washed. Distribute the shampoo well into the hair and let it work for a few minutes. Rinse thoroughly and repeat the process.

Home Remedy for Oily Hair

Instead of water, you can rinse your hair with rosemary tea, which controls sebum overproduction. Brew 2 teaspoons of dried rosemary in a cup of water. Steep for 20 minutes, cool and pour into an empty plastic bottle. Rinse the hair with tea after every hair wash. The tea does not need to be washed out.

Another rinse can be made from lemon juice. Mix the juice from 2 lemons with 2 cups of water and pour into a plastic bottle. After washing your hair, towel-dry it and apply the lemon mixture to your scalp. Leave on for 5 minutes and rinse with cold water.

Instead of lemon juice, you can also use clear vinegar. The pungent smell of vinegar will quickly disappear.

For extremely oily hair, you can create a mixture that slows down sebum production on the scalp. Mix equal parts of witch hazel water and ordinary mouthwash. Both substances are corrosive and therefore tighten the pores of the scalp. After washing and rinsing, dab the mixture onto the scalp (not the hair) with cotton wool.

Greasy, shiny hair is usually hereditary.
