Crusts also sometimes appear on other areas where sebaceous glands are located, such as the neck, chest and hips.

Scabs are caused by the secretion of a waxy substance from the sebaceous glands.

Scabs have nothing to do with poor hygiene or a lack of nutrients and are not the same as the dandruff that occurs in adults.

Self-help against scabs

Scabs on the head are aggravated by sweating, so the baby should be kept away from heat. The baby should only wear a hat when it is cold outside. The cap should be removed in heated and wind-protected areas.

When bathing daily, lather the hair well and massage the scalp lightly. You can also brush your head with a soft hairbrush. Leave on briefly and rinse off with lukewarm water.

Before shampooing, you can rub a little baby oil onto the scalp to loosen the scabs. The baby bath can be enriched with wheat bran broth and a soap and fragrance-free bath gel can be used.

Loose scabs can be combed out with a baby comb. However, you should not try to scrape out the scabs with your fingernails.

["1696"],"_fgj2wp_old_id":["870
kopfschorf
2619
1
head-scab
a:0:{}
21

post-1697","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-familie-und-kinder","entry","has-media
["GET
