Until then, you can wash the baby with a sponge.

Although there is no set time for a bath, experience has shown that a bath before the last meal in the evening is beneficial because it helps the baby to relax and have a peaceful sleep.

It makes sense to have all the necessary utensils and products ready before bathing: sponge, towel, bath products, baby brush, new clothes and nappy.

Water temperature

The optimum bathing temperature is around 37 degrees, which is body temperature. At the beginning you can use a thermometer, later you only need to test with the tip of your elbow and you will know when the water is at the right temperature.

Bathing position

The baby should be lowered into the water with calm, safe movements, supporting the back and head with the left forearm while the hand holds the shoulder and arm. The baby can now be washed with the right hand.

Washing products

The washing and body lotions used should be specially formulated for babies and have a pH value of 5.5. For babies who are prone to allergic skin reactions, there are special products that contain more oil and have a soothing effect on the skin.

To wash the body, we use a soft sponge and bath gel for babies. The face can either be washed with the sponge, if it is soft enough, or with gauze. Once or twice a week, wash the baby's hair with a mild baby shampoo. After bathing and drying with a fluffy towel, leave the baby wrapped up for a moment so that the skin gets used to the environment outside the water again. Before getting dressed, it is a good idea to apply a baby body lotion by taking a small amount in your hand and gently massaging it into the baby's skin.

The baby's daily bath not only represents the necessary personal hygiene, but also gives the baby the opportunity to make playful contact with the water and to be caressed by the mother.

["1609"],"_fgj2wp_old_id":["820
baby’s bad
2668
1
babys-bath
21

post-1610","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-familie-und-kinder","entry","has-media
["GET
