Stale cigarette smoke often smells unbearable, especially to non-smokers. Cigarette smoke unfortunately lingers penetratingly in clothing, furniture and all kinds of fabric. It settles into walls and makes the car or living room smell like a pub.<\/p>\n

Conventional air freshening perfumes, however, usually only manage to layer themselves over the cold smell of cigarettes and together create a nauseating mixture.<\/p>\n

How can you effectively remove the unpleasant smell of stale cigarette smoke?<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Wash all fabrics. Put in the washing machine everything that can be washed, clothes, curtains, etc. If you can't wash it yourself, take it to the dry cleaner.<\/p>\n

Ventilate. First open all the windows and ventilate well. This will remove a lot of smoke. You can put pillows or similar items outside in the fresh air for a few hours. Fresh air is very important in removing the smell of cigarettes, but it does not completely destroy the smell.
Vacuuming. Take your hoover and vacuum over upholstery, furniture, car floor mats etc. with a hoover attachment.<\/p>\n

Vinegar. Put a bowl of vinegar in the room or car where the cigarette smoke is overnight. Vinegar draws the cold smoke out of the air.<\/p>\n

Orange peel. You can leave peels of all kinds of citrus fruits in the room for several days. It takes a little longer for the fruit peels to absorb the smell of cigarettes, but they smell more pleasant than vinegar.<\/p>\n

Bach powder. Sprinkle some baking soda on the source of the smell and let it sit for a few hours. Afterwards, you can simply vacuum up the baking soda with a hoover. But first try it out on an inconspicuous spot to see if the baking soda comes out of the fabric.<\/p>\n

Coffee. Please do not simply sprinkle the coffee like you do the baking powder, because coffee powder is guaranteed to stain. Instead, put the coffee powder in coffee filters, tie them up and place them wherever there is a smell of cigarette smoke.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Clean surfaces. Whether glass, wooden surfaces or linoleum floors, cigarette smoke settles there as a yellowish substance. All affected surfaces must be thoroughly treated with the appropriate cleaning agent (glass cleaner, wood polish, etc.).<\/div>\n

Light bulbs. Light bulbs attract the smell of cigarettes, which builds up on them and is then released by the heat every time the bulbs are switched on. So wash off all light bulbs that have been exposed to smoke.<\/p>\n

Candles. If you don't have any special anti-smoking candles, light a few normal candles, let them burn for a while and then put them out again so that they glow for a few more seconds.<\/p>\n

Matches. Like candles, you can light a few matches and blow them out so that they still glow a little. The smell of burnt matches is stronger than the smell of cigarettes. This means that the smell of cigarettes is not absorbed, but only superimposed, but the relative similarity of the smells creates a pleasant mixture in contrast to sweet perfumes.<\/p>\n
