Daphni

The Monastery of St Mary of Daphni is one of the oldest monasteries in Greece. The name Daphni means 'laurel', in memory of the laurel tree that was planted in Apollo's grove.

 

Glyphada and Vouliagmeni

Two neighbourhoods on the coast of the Saronic Gulf. Glyphada has chic boutiques and shopping centres for strolling around day and night. Also: large golf course.

Vouliagmeni has extensive sports facilities in romantic pine forests. Highlight: lido and thermal lake.

 

Kaisariani

Former monastery on the Hymettos Mountains in a nature reserve near the Illissos springs.
