The Eiffel Tower of Spain

Observation tower in Ciudad Ducal

Quite hidden and largely unknown even among locals, there is a real Eiffel Tower in the province of Ávila near the village of Las Navas del Marques. It is not a replica of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, but actually a steel tower built in 1873 by Gustave Eiffel.

The authentic Eiffel Tower is located in the Ciudad Ducal neighbourhood, the first private neighbourhood in Spain, which was founded in 1942. Ciudad Ducal can be reached from the CL 505, which runs between Ávila and Las Rozas. The urbanisation is private and has an entrance barrier, but access is open to all visitors.

Drive past the entrance and follow the main roadße through the wooded settlement in the direction of Lago. There is a small one (Lago) and a larger oneßEmbalse), follow the signs to Lago, not Embalse.

The path leads to a car park (Aparcamiento). Leave the car here. Walk down the road to the lake (Lago), where you will find the idyllic lake after about 200 metres.

Paths from the car park to the tower

Two ways to the tower

To reach the tower, follow one of the two paths from the car park in the direction of Piscina Privada. Past the swimming pool, you will find a small children's playground from where you can already see the Eiffel Tower. Now all you have to do is follow the footpaths.

The tower is freely accessible and not particularly high, but as it stands at the top of the mountain, there is a marvellous view from there.
