The impossible cube is an optical illusion. Seen from this perspective, the cube creates an illusion of impossibility. The impossible or irrational cube is an object in which the edges appear as massive supports that give the cube a visual ambiguity. The illusion plays with the human eye's interpretation of three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional background. From this perspective, the cube seems to defy all laws of geometry.
Seen from a different perspective, however, the geometry of the cube becomes clear; the cube-ness itself is a deception.
