How to behave in public toilets

Time and again it is astonishing that even normally well-behaved people seem incapable of using a public toilet only for the intended business and leaving the premises in a clean condition.

A washroom that is open to the public is maintained by cleaning staff who are equals who deserve respect and esteem. Soiling a toilet because "the cleaning lady will clean it up anyway" is not proper.

As a general rule, the toilet and washroom should be left as you would like to find them.

- the toilet is to be used only for its intended purpose and is not a smoking room.

- the washroom can be used for washing hands, putting on make-up and checking outfits, but is not a common room for gossiping and making phone calls.

- Before leaving the toilet, flush the toilet and check that everything has been flushed down.

- Do not leave marks on the toilet seat, please wipe afterwards.

- the toilet facilities are open to the public but are someone else's property and must not be smeared with pens or damaged.

- Please do not use too much toilet paper.

- Out of respect for the other "guests", keep your voice down, but don't hide in the toilet so that no one hears you.

- If possible, it is more polite not to choose the toilet right next to an occupied toilet, after all, everyone wants as much privacy as possible under the circumstances.

- You don't have to rush, but you will finish quickly if others are waiting behind you.
