Mistakes are not failures

Cut up contract

Making mistakes is part of every person's life. In fact, every person must first make mistakes in order to learn from them and to be able to change. But those who make mistakes are not failures. Failure is something completely different.

The difference between error and failure

Failure refers to a wrong decision or a wrong behaviour that cannot be corrected. Such wrong decisions are rather rare in life, so one cannot usually speak of failure. When one speaks of failure, it is implied that a possible negative and uncorrectable outcome was accepted beforehand.
An error is a wrong decision that can subsequently be corrected or minimised by adapted behaviour or changes in the circumstances caused. It is an incorrect assessment of a situation whose bad outcome was not anticipated beforehand.

Mistakes serve to further positive development

Through nothing does a person learn as much as through his own mistakes. It is human nature to follow one's own instincts rather than listen to the experience of others. When parents want to warn their children about a situation that they know from experience to be unpleasant or dangerous, the children usually rarely listen to the advice. They only learn when they make the same mistakes themselves.
So a mistake is not only an important step in development, it is a stepping stone to greater success. If a person learns that one way doesn't work, they know they have to try another, and this one is more likely to lead to success.

Disappointments make people stronger

Life cannot be controlled. What works for one person can go wrong for another. It is a lottery in a way. Each person has to try different paths until they find the best one. In the process, one inevitably takes a wrong path from time to time, which leads nowhere or even has negative consequences. But if one has taken such a wrong path, one must not let oneself be demotivated by the disappointment. Every disappointment serves to seek a new beginning and involuntarily makes us richer by one experience and thus stronger.
