There is no doubt that yoga has become fashionable. There are countless centres and yoga schools, and courses are even offered in normal sports studios.

Traditionally, yoga comes from Hinduism, it is an important pillar of Hinduism and initially has the religious meaning of the soul becoming one with God.

The fascination of yoga for the western world lies in the fact that it is possible for everyone to practise yoga, whether old or young, at home or in a group, with a lot or little time.

There are many different styles and forms of yoga, one of the best-known schools is hatha yoga, or kundalini. Many schools advertise the type of yoga they teach and praise their branch as the fastest, best or oldest.

If you want to start with yoga, the choice of type of yoga is not particularly important at first, you can choose a different branch at any time, and many teachers also put together their own mix of the most well-known styles.

Yoga consists of exercises, the asanas (the word comes from Sanskrit, the language of the origins of yoga), which either control and improve breathing or work certain parts of the body and zones, always in harmony with the correct breathing techniques. The body and muscles are trained through stretching exercises or twists.

Balance and strength are strengthened, but above all the ability to listen to one's body, to alternate periods of exertion with periods of rest and to bring the mind into a calm state.

At the end of each yoga session, you dedicate several minutes to total relaxation, which over time leads to you being able to incorporate this calmness into your otherwise stressful, hectic life and take things more calmly overall.

Regular practice of yoga helps you to increase your performance, strengthen your body and control your attention.

The enemy of the body and mind are stress, fast, uncontrolled movements, poor breathing, incorrect sitting positions and they must be avoided because their consequences all reduce the quality of life.

The aim is to recognise the mistakes, become aware of them and then work on correcting them.

The philosophy of yoga can be extended to all areas of life, so nutrition is also an important factor; only if it is right can the body be and remain truly healthy.

Yoga practitioners are very often vegetarians or even vegans, many swear by organic products and reject industrially manipulated products.

You can also find extreme representatives among yoga followers who have radically changed their lives and no longer find many things in everyday life acceptable.

Normally, however, you will be content to practise yoga regularly in order to enjoy the progress and improved views and life itself.

Your understanding will grow and open your eyes to the beauties of life, and last but not least, yoga is a way to get to know yourself and your body and to live in harmony.
