How to combat pathological jealousy
Jealousy can become an obsession. It eats us up from the inside and leaves us without a moment's peace. What if my boyfriend looks at another woman and finds her more attractive than me? Jealousy is a heavy burden on a relationship because it constricts the partner and shows them that there is no trust in the relationship.

Jealousy is usually not only unfounded, but achieves the exact opposite: the partner turns away because the relationship is in crisis.

The reason for jealousy is usually a lack of self-confidence. Why should your boyfriend find someone else more attractive than you? After all, he has fallen in love with you.

What can you do about jealousy?

Insecurity is a breeding ground for jealousy. Have confidence in yourself. If you don't like yourself, you find it difficult to believe that someone else could like you. You project these doubts onto your partner and become suspicious. Have self-confidence, because that is the antiserum for jealousy.
Stop licking old wounds and let them heal. If you were cheated on by a previous partner or left for someone else, this can still affect you. But it's important to tick the chapter off and move on. You need to let the past go before it destroys your relationship.

Trust your instinct that you are capable of choosing a partner who would not intentionally hurt you. You can manage whatever happens, you just have to believe in yourself. Even if you get hurt, you will go on living.

Stop comparing yourself with others. If you look hard enough, you will find something that is better in others than in you. This way, you will never be good enough in your own eyes. There is always someone who is "better" at something than you, but it is the sum of all your qualities and abilities that make you unique.

Concentrate on what is, not on what could be. Jealousy is usually the fear of something that hasn't even happened yet. The only basis for this fear is your own insecurity. Stay in the reality of your relationship and don't worry about hypothetical situations.

Trust your partner. If you are constantly afraid that your partner might leave you or cheat on you, you will definitely drive him/her away. Nobody wants to be controlled and watched by their partner. Jealousy makes you clingy and therefore unattractive. Your partner needs space to breathe in order to be themselves.

If your partner is going to cheat on you, you can't prevent it by being jealous. You prevent it by trusting them because you recognise your own worth. Why should your partner look for someone else when they already have the best in front of them?

If your fear is unfounded, i.e. you have no proof of your partner's infidelity, do not find him guilty until he has been proven guilty.

If your partner does hurt you, you can still take action. But enjoy the good time you have in your relationship now.
