A soft and fluffy towel or bath towel is a luxurious feeling when you get out of a warm bath or a hot shower.

To ensure that the towels remain as soft and fluffy as they are, it is important that they are cared for properly.

How do you care for towels to keep them soft?

High quality towels deserve a high quality detergent. Cheaper detergents are less gentle on the fluffy fibres.
Good towels should be made of 100% cotton, because cotton is the most skin-friendly and absorbs moisture best.

1.step:

New towels should be washed in the washing machine before they are used for the first time. Add a cup of light-coloured vinegar to the wash water to set the colour of the towel and protect it from fading.

2.step:

For subsequent washes in warm or cold water, only use half the amount of detergent that you normally use for washing. This will prolong the life of the towels.

3.step:

Use bleach sparingly or not at all, as it attacks the fibres of the towel.

4.step:

Do not put fabric softener in the washing machine when washing towels, as the silicone in the fabric softener prevents the towel from absorbing.

5.step:

Wash towels with dark colours separately from towels with light colours, as the dark colours can discolour over time.

6.step:

Dry the towels on a washing line in the fresh air. When tumble drying, select the gentlest cycle of the tumble dryer to prevent the towel from shrinking.

7.step:

If possible, do not use the towel to wipe the sink or tiles in the bathroom, as there may be residues of toothpaste or soap that could stain and stick to the fibres of the towel.
